The Bradfords Group currently operate approximately 650 vehicles which consists of Cars, Vans, LGV’s and Plant Equipment. The annual fuel usage for the Group is circa 2 million litres, producing approximately 5240 tonnes of CO2

BRADFORDS GROUP FLEET POLICY

It is the aim of the company to reduce our fuel consumption and CO2 levels by purchasing the most up to date environmentally friendly vehicles with on-going analysis of our running costs to aid this reduction.

All vehicles are serviced and inspected in line with manufacturers recommendations and in addition, as required to meet our obligation to the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency). Through implementing these standards, it is our aim to maintain a high level of Health and Safety for our staff and customers.

All new vehicles must meet the most up to date environmental and safety levels for their class.

All staff are fully trained in the operation of their vehicle, with regular training in line with our driver’s Certificate of Professional Competence, where appropriate

COMMERCIAL VEHICLES

  • All vehicles over 3.5t are inspected every 6 – 8 weeks (depending on age) and serviced as per manufacturers recommendation
  • All lifting equipment (lorry mounted cranes and tail lifts) are tested under LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) by Allianz Engineering
  • All lubricants, oils and tyres are sourced to give greater efficiency and extended life wherever possible
  • MPG’s are monitored on a monthly basis to target areas for improvement
  • All Group Commercial vehicles are tracked, and this information is used to promote driver education, as well as driving greater fuel efficiency
  • All drivers carry out twice daily (Pre & Post use) defecting checks and if defects are found repairs must be implemented before any vehicle is allowed to resume service

The company has five Standard National O (Operators) Licences and comply with all the rules required to maintain these O licences.

Lorry Mounted Cranes: If a vehicle is fitted with a crane the driver will have been trained to a nationally recognised standard and will carry a licence to this effect.

It is the expectation of the Bradfords Group that all their commercial vehicles only operate in a legal, safe and roadworthy condition and that all drivers hold the correct , valid licences for the vehicle they drive, including any ancillary equipment. Compliance is central to our operation.

PLANT EQUIPMENT

All Plant vehicles are serviced and inspected in accordance with the manufacturers specifications, further inspections are carried out by Allianz Engineering to meet out LOLER obligations. All drivers carry out daily pre use defecting and if defects are found repairs must be implemented before any vehicle is allowed to be used.

It is the expectation of the Bradfords Group that all their Plant vehicles only operate in a legal and safe condition and all drivers hold the correct up to date licences for the vehicle they drive.

CARS

The Bradfords Group acquire and operate cars that meet the most stringent CO2 levels and low fuel consumption parameters and is continually striving to improve both. The average CO2 level for the Bradfords Group car fleet is currently 118 (g/km) Vs the national average for new cars in the UK being 121 (g/km) Source SMMT. However, all new cars ordered in 2018 (up until May 2018) have an average CO2 level of just105 (g/km). All figures quoted use the NEDC format.

The average fleet fuel consumption for the year leading up to May 2018 is 53 mpg (actual). All Drivers go through an induction process and the driving history is monitored to see if further training is ever required. In line with Carbon Emissions as above, company cars ordered in 2018 (up until May) are capable of an average of up to 71 mpg in a combined cycle.

It is the expectation of the Bradfords Group that all their cars are only driven in a legal and roadworthy condition and all drivers are fully aware of their own and others Health and Safety whilst they drive.
